It occurs in the skin that is subjected to continuous and progressive stretching for any reason. Collagen and elastin fibres in the skin are damaged. Rapid weight gain, puberty, pregnancy, genetic and hormonal causes, obesity, long-term and widespread use of systemic cortisone and topical cortisone creams, weight lifting, dry skin are the main causes.
It is first noticed as a pink-violet colour, then fades and finally appears as a bright white colour.
Stria treatment is a difficult treatment. The chance of success is higher if it is treated in the most active period before scar formation is completed. Creams containing vitamin A derivatives can be used externally.
With Dermaroller
6-8 sessions are performed every 2 weeks, the edges of the striae are approximated and superficialised by stimulating wound healing with small needles.
With laser
Pulsed dye lasers can be used in the treatment of pink colour in the first period. Moderate healing is expected. In late white striae, fractional lasers are used to stimulate wound healing. The clinical appearance is tried to be improved by increasing collagen and elastin fibres. 40-60% healing is achieved and the wound edges become closer to each other and become less prominent.
